Auto Harness Manufacturers Investigated For Price Fixing
Several class action lawsuits have been filed against auto harness suppliers, Troy-based Delphi Automotive LLP, Southfield-based Lear Corp., Furukawa Electric Co., Leoni AG, Sumitomo Electric Industries Ltd., S-Y Systems Technologies GmbH, Yazaki Corp and its North American unit based in Canton Township, alleging the companies unlawfully fixed prices for wire harness systems. The suits argues that high prices on harnesses hurt new vehicle buyers, and wants these companies to reimburse car buyers. The U.S. Justice Department, European Union and Japan have been investigating the market for fixed prices on wire harness systems since February 2010, but expect the problem could go back as far as 2000.
