Nurse Faces 10 Years For Misuse Of Official Information
When Anne Mitchell, an administrative nurse from Kermit, Texas wrote to the medical board about concerns she had about Dr. Rolando G. Arafiles Jr. medical practices, she felt there was a chance that she may lose her job. What she didn't expect, was that she would be on trial for a third degree felony for "misuse of official information. Charges against a second nurse, Vickilyn Galle, who helped Mrs. Mitchell write the letter, were dismissed at the prosecutor’s discretion last week.
Right Of Way At Crosswalks
In the United States thousands of pedestrians die each year in auto accidents. Two thirds of these accidents happen in urban areas due to the congestion of pedestrians and traffic. A crosswalk is the part of the roadway set aside for pedestrian traffic. Most intersections have a pedestrian crosswalk whether or not there are painted lines on the street. Most crosswalks are at corners, but they can also be in the middle of the block.
What Do You Do If Your In A Car Accident?
No one wants to get in an accident, but if you drive anywhere, there is always the chance you could. Of course you need to take into consideration where you are driving, what the weather conditions are and who is driving around you. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in 2008, there were more than 5.8 million reported traffic crashes in which over 37, 000 people were killed and more than 2.3 million injured.
Denture Creams And Zinc Poisoning
Thirty four million Americans wear dentures and about a third of them use denture creme to hold them in place. A group of these people have experienced difficulty with balance and walking, forcing once independent people to use wheelchairs or walkers to get around. According to a study published in neurology journals this could be due to excessive zinc build from zinc in denture creams.
Dental Drill Left In Womans Head For Almost A Year
Here's another reason for people to hate going to the dentist. Donna Delgao of Tampa, Florida had gone to the dentist for some routine dental surgery. For almost a year after the surgery she experienced headaches, nosebleeds and sinus infections. She eventually ended up in the hospital where the medical staff found an inch long dentist drill bit lodged in her right maxillary sinus.
Toyota Stops Production And Sales Of Eight Models
2009 has not been a good year for automakers around the world. For Toyota, not only have they been dealing with slow sales, but at the end of September they announced one of the biggest recalls ever. The beginning of 2010 does not see things getting much better. At the end of January Toyota announced "part two" of the recall followed by the suspension of sales and production of eight models.
Kettleman City Birth Defects
Parents of Kettleman City, a small town halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco are concerned over the large amount of birth deformities in their town. Approximately 20 babies were born during the 14 months beginning in September 2007. Five of the babies were born with oral deformities known as clefts. While three of them died, two others are undergoing medical treatment. The normal rate for this type of deformity in California is one in every 800 births.
Pedestrians Distracted From Walking
With all the mobile products around today, drivers are becoming distracted from driving. Products such as the Sync and UVO were developed to make it safer for drivers and pedestrians. But what about the pedestrians? According to a study done by Ohio State University more than 1,000 pedestrians visited emergency rooms in 2008 because they got distracted and tripped, fell or ran into something while using a cell phone to talk or text. That was twice the number from 2007, which had nearly doubled from 2006. These are only the reported incidents. While most incidents result in embarrassment or damaged pride, some result in injury or even death.
Dealership Sues Customer Over Car Price
Have you ever gone into a car dealership and bought a car at a really good price? That's exactly what happened to Tammie Townsend of Golden Valley, Minnesota. In October Tammie decided to buy out her 2007 Chrysler Pacifica which she had been leasing for two years. Under her 2007 lease with the dealership, she had the right to buy the car for about $18,500, but when she signed the papers to convert the lease to a sale the price was about $6,000 less than the car's blue book value. A few weeks later, Tammie got a phone call from the dealership saying there was a mistake and that she owed about $6,000 more on the car.
Scams Target Haiti Earthquake
Those touched by the Haiti earthquake tragedy who would like to give donations are being warned by the FBI of bogus online donation scams. Internet security expert Joel Esler says hundreds of Internet addresses related to Haiti have been registered since the quake. Many of them will probably refer people to legitimate charity sites, but many more will probably be bogus. The money will never make it to the relief fund or your credit card information will be taken for later misuse.
Some internet search terms related to Haiti are turning up dangerous Web pages. Referred to as "search engine poisoning", criminals use software tools to manipulate search engine rankings of sites, so that users are steered to web sites that install malicious code on your PC.
