Weak Seat Backs Cause More Injuries
California personal injury attorneys have filed a product liability injury lawsuit against Nissan Motor Co. LTD., Nissan North America Inc., Nissan Design America, Ikeda Engineering, Vintec Co., Johnson Controls and Autoliv Safety Technology.
In October of 2006, Jaklin Mikhil Romine, was driving her 2000 Nissan Frontier when she was rear ended. She suffered severe head injuries and spinal injuries when her defective seat back collapsed. She claims that Nissan knew the vehicle seat backs were weak and that a rear end impact at low speeds could collapse the seat and cause injuries to properly restrained occupants. These results were based on prior car accidents, lawsuits and Nissans own in-house testing. The lawsuit points out that it is simple to correct the weak seat back, but Nissan chose to ignore the problem.
