Since the recession began, there seems to be an increase in fraudulent insurance claims. The majority of these claims involve car accidents resulting in whiplash, post-traumatic stress and strained muscles, all of which are difficult to diagnose by a doctor.

Many lawyers feel that since the introduction of "no win, no fee" arrangements, people are more likely to make a claim, because they got nothing to lose. This makes it difficult for lawyers, since they need to "weed" out the claims they feel are bogus. Our legal system is there to try to give fair compensation to people who suffer from injury or loss from an accident. Abuses to the system not only effect people with legitimate claims but is an indirect tax on the public.
