Defective cribs cause serious injury or death to thousands of infants every year. In 1982, the federal government issued safety standards for cribs, play yards, bassinets, and portable travel cribs. These safety standard have not been updated since 1982, so recently the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced that it will revise these standards by the end of 2010.
