The family of a woman killed after being struck by a Los Angeles police cruiser is suing the department. Devin Leigh Petelski, a substance abuse counselor, was killed Oct 15,2009, when her car was struck by a police patrol car. The cruiser allegedly had neither its flashing lights or sirens on as it sped to a burglary call.

The FDA'a safety review of commonly used prostate cancer drugs suggests an increase the risk of diabetes and certain cardiovascular diseases in men. Gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) a class of medication used to reat men with prostate cancer may increase a users risk for diabetes, hear attack, stroke and sudden death according to a preliminary analysis of several studies done by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The FDA announced it had sent warning letters to six medical spas in the United States for making false or misleading statements on their Web sites about drugs used in the procedure. “We are concerned that these companies are misleading consumers,” says Janet Woodcock, M.D., director of FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. “It is important for anyone who is considering this voluntary procedure to understand that the products used to perform lipodissolve procedures are not approved by FDA for fat removal.”
