Toyota Fights To Get Back On Top
Toyota's president Akio Toyoda met with Japan's premier, Yukio Hatoyama and other government officials, with a promise to restore trust in Toyota vehicles. Promising to improve quality control, Toyoda said, "We will work hard to once again become a more transparent and customer focused company."
The automaker has also launched a big sales push featuring loyal Toyota owners and big incentives like zero percent financing for five years. Toyota's U.S. sales fell 9 percent in February and its market share fell to 12.8 percent, the lowest since July 2005. Toyoda said the new incentives could help North American sales recover.
Today at 1:00 p.m. EST Toyota will be holding a web-cast to show consumers that the problems with their vehicles is not electronics related.
