Toyota Unable To Find Problems In Fixed Cars
U.S. regulators are reviewing more than 60 complaints that fixes made on some recalled Toyota vehicles have not solved the problem.
Toyota said today that they have evaluated the cars and interviewed owners who had complaints of unintended acceleration after repairs have been done and can't find any evidence of failure in the electronic throttle system or the brake override system. Koji Endo, auto analyst at Advanced Research Japan said, "It may be difficult to find out whether there are really problems with the cars or not. It may take time to settle the dispute."
The new complaints, while small in number compared to the number of Toyota vehicles recalled, raises questions about whether Toyota's repairs fixed the problem. Understandably, people are uneasy about getting into their Toyota's again and will scrutinize anything that they feel just doesn't seem right. Some of the complaints made said that soon after repairs the problem continued. It seems very odd that the problem is so wide spread, but Toyota just cant seem to simulate it.
